The year is 1842. And Josephine Wingfield Davis is born on the 10th of May, in Morgan County, Georgia. Josephine grows up in and around Madison, which I have seen defined as Gone With the Wind country. Her mother, America James Davis nee Fears, dies 22 April 1857, shortly before Josephine's 15th birthday. In 1859 Josephine's entire immediate family -- her father, three brothers, and her married sister and her family -- move to Texas. In July of 1860 they are enumerated on the Census in Columbia, Brazoria County, Texas. Josephine marries William Paschal Henry on 1 March 1864 in Brazoria County, Texas.
