SPRIGG FAMILY. Christopher Johnston.
Thomas Sprigg, the ancestor of this family, was born in 1630 and died in 1704. In a deposition, made in 1665, "Mr. Thomas Sprigge" gives his age as 35 years (Prov. Court, Lib. FF, fol. 91), and in another deposition, made in 1694, his age is stated as 64 years (ibid., Lib. W. R. C., no. 1, fol. 696). His will was proved 29 Dec. 1704. . . . The following is a brief abstract of his will.
Thomas Sprigg Sen'r. of Prince George's County— will dated 9 May 1704, proved 29 Dec. 1704 (Pr. Geo. Co., Lib. 1, fol. 23).
Mentions daughter Sarah Pearce; son Thomas Sprigg; daughters Martha Prather, Eleanor Nuthall, Elizabeth Wade, and Anne Gittens; Thomas Stockett and my grandson Thomas Stockett; Eleanor Stockett; my son Thomas Sprigg and my sons-in-law James Wade, Philip Gittens, and Thomas Prather executors. The name James Wade is evidently a clerical error for Robert Wade. No James Wade appears in the records, and the following extract is conclusive:
5 January 1704/5, bond of Robert Wade, of Pr. George's County, as one of the executors of Thomas Sprigg, late of said County deceased, in the sum of £600 sterling; sureties Philip Gittings, Thomas Prather, and Samuel Magruder all of Pr. George's County (Test. Proc., Lib. 10, fol. 18). . . .

Hi Terri -- Glad to see you out and about. ;) I had a snow-page on a former website, but the script for the falling snow that I used there would not work here on blogspot, so I went looking for one that would, and found > THIS < one. All you have to do is click a button to add it to your blog. I would like to be able to customize it -- e.g., instead of using a > . < (period) for the snowflake, I would prefer to use the little > * < (star) in various sizes with various fonts -- looks more like snowflakes -- but I have not been able to figure out how to do that yet. E-ya later. V.
Hi Hummer -- I am one of those weird-ones who somehow remembers odd-ball dates, but I cannot take credit for remembering all of the dates I celebrate on my blogs.
Several years ago, as I came across events in the lives of my kith 'n kin, I started setting up reminders on my Google Calendar. And I still do that for dates that are not the usual birth or death or marriage dates. I set up my calendar to send me a daily agenda showing whatever events occur on that date.
FYI, I also subscribe (via Google calendar) to the geneablogger calendar, so I also receive those reminders on a daily basis.
As far as births or deaths or marriages, I use a free program called GeneWeb for creating the lists I post daily on my calendar blog.

FYI . . . for anybody considering adding a snow widget to your blog . . . please be very, very careful . . . my blogs with the snow widget wound up being hi-jacked (i.e., viewers were directed to other websites) . . . once I removed that snow widget, the problems were solved . . . I have yet to find one this year that appears to be blogger approved . . . so there will be NO falling snow here until a SAFE snow widget is found . . . V. . . .
Interesting. We're descended from Thomas Sprigg and Eleanor Nuthall as well through their daughter Martha I believe. I think I'm about 11th generation down. Interestingly, my oldest son's mouth bears a resemblance to the portrait of Thomas.
I was under the impression he did have children with Catherine, though I could be wrong.
Have you ever traced the family tree back from them? Eleanor's is quite interesting.
