Ain't she sweet! That's my Mom with her foot propped up on the front bumper of my Dad's brand new 1950 Ford. Mom remembers the car as being a dark greenish-bluish color. She says Dad bought the car from his Uncle John for $2500. Uncle John was married to one of Dad's Mother's younger sisters [Gladys Taylor nee Muston (1913-2007)]. Uncle John had a Ford dealership in Lexington, Texas -- located where Dowdy House is now (as of February 2007). Mom says they went on numerous dates in this car, including outings to Rockdale's Reel Drive-In Theater.

Here's Dad posing with the same car. The original of this photo is very faded, and this is the best copy I have for now. I will try to get a better scan on somebody else's scanner.

Mom remembers the day this car was wrecked. I was a baby (b. 1951) and an only child at the time. Dad was working at Fred Pounders' Texaco (Dad's Uncle), and had been home for lunch. Home was (and is) on Wilcox Street. Mom heard the crash right after Dad left to return to work. Mom went running down to the corner of Wilcox & Belton to find the car totalled because someone ran the stopsign on Belton and hit Dad's beautiful new car!

Just below is a photo of what appears to be the same car with Arlin Dee, Forrest Lee & Jacob E. Pounders. Notice Dad's Texaco hat!
