January 2006 . . . it's hard to realize it's actually been 10 years since you left us,
Dad . . . but our memories of you will never end . . . images
of you are forever etched in our hearts & minds . . . a photo of you
as a young lad being held in your own Dad's arms . . . a school snapshot from your good old golden rule days
. . .
a photo that proves you were one of Rockdale's handsomest young men in the late 40s
. . . a snapshot of a handsome young man in uniform during your service to your country . . .
your 1950 wedding photo when you married the love of your life
. . . a casual snapshot of you with your arms around your sweetheart standing in your parents front yard
. . . you & Mom standing in your mother's kitchen in 1975
celebrating your 25th wedding anniversary . . . you enjoying one of many days spent in your backyard with family
gathered around . . . you posing for Em in your barnyard where most of us spent many satisfying hours
over the decades .
. . your final public appearance in October of 1995 when you
were honored by your hometown . . . the journey was long but could have never been long enough for those of us
who love you still . . . in my imaginings now I can see the barefoot boy
in you roaming the dirt roads of Heaven . . . save
some fresh dewberries for us! . . . we love you & miss you every day
