Remembering my maternal grandma . . .
and the Mother my Mom never knew . . .
"I'd like to add some beauty to life,"
said Anne dreamily.
"I don't exactly want to make people KNOW more
though I know that IS the noblest ambition
but I'd love to make them
have a pleasanter time
because of me
to have some little joy or happy thought
that would never have existed
if I hadn't been born."
L.M. Montgomery
Elizabeth, I sure am glad you were born . . . because of your birth . . . and the gift of life you gave my Mom . . . I've been blessed with the very best Mother I could have ever dreamed of . . . with love & gratitude . . . from your granddaughter . . .
born 5th October 1912 in Biddeford, Maine
died 3rd February 1932 in Lynn, Massachusetts

Beautiful tribute as always Vickie, she made all the difference in the world, there is you along with your very special mom.
The name Marilla always makes me think of "Anne of Green Gables", too! There are a few Marillas sprinkled throughout my research.
A beautiful post with the most wonderful words...
What a great tribute. I'd love to hear more about Elizabeth.
Regards, Jim
My mom's mother died when my mom was 7 years old. Luetta Meyer Zimmeth died Dec 20, 1931 at the age of 36. For most of my mother's 7+ years she lived with an aunt, because Luetta had TB and was incapable of caring for her children.
My dad's mother, Mary Bowman Percival died when dad was 13. So I missed out on knowing both grandmothers. I, too am thankful for them, and wish I had known them.
